Begin dit jaar zijn de Masai-zusjes Grace en Margaret gestart op school. Ik heb deze meisjes echt in mijn hart gesloten. Een paar dagen terug maakte mijn hart dan ook een sprongetje toen ik een mail van father Shirima uit Kenia ontving. Met woorden en foto’s van de zusjes Grace en Margaret. Ik deel graag een stukje uit die mail.
“We visited Grace yesterday and she was truly happy and hopeful for a better future in life. She asked us to send her deep gratitude. We have not managed to visit Margaret but the day we brought her to school she asked us to express to you how happy she was and with also deepest gratitude.”
Vertaling: We hebben Grace gisteren bezocht en ze was oprecht blij en heeft hoop op een betere toekomst. Ze vroeg ons haar diepe dankbaarheid over te brengen. Het is nog niet gelukt om Margaret te bezoeken, maar de dag dat we haar naar school brachten vroeg ze ons om je te zeggen hoe blij en dankbaar ze is.
Father Shirima vervolgt zijn mail:
“Personally, I do feel that these two girls are extremely lucky and Blessed. I do feel that God sent you to them at the right time as Guardian Angels. What has happened to them is next to a “miracle.” There are so many children in Kenya who are very bright, and they have missed going to school for the lack of school fees, but Grace and Margaret are in school now in spite of the odds they faced.”
Vertaling: Persoonlijk vind ik dat deze twee meisjes extreem geluk hebben gehad en gezegend zijn. Ik heb echt het gevoel dat God jullie op de juiste plaats en de juiste tijd heeft gestuurd als beschermengelen. Wat er gebeurd is, is bijna een wonder te noemen. Er zijn zoveel kinderen in Kenia die erg slim zijn en niet naar school kunnen om financiële redenen. Maar Grace en Margaret zijn op school ondanks hun omstandigheden.
